Saddle shoes are two-toned leather shoes, which are predominant in classic colour white. Only a small stripe at back as well as the saddle on the middle part, which is decorated with eylets, have an contrasting colour. The saddle is responsible for the shoes name "Saddle Shoes". But they are also called Oxford Saddles or plain Saddles. Although many people associate saddle shoes with the 1950`s, saddle shoes have been introduced in the early 20th century as an athletic shoe. They have been used and reused by footwear designers in all shapes and colours since their introduction. Saddle shoes are and remain the ultimate "All american shoe".
