What Katie Did`s first book, A Serious Study of Mid 20th Century Lingerie, was published in 2009, coinciding with our 10th anniversary.

And what better way could there be to commemorate a decade in the retro lingerie trade than by releasing a book all about our favourite subject in the world?

A Serious Study of Mid 20th Century Lingerie is also the culmination of a lifetime`s ambition – for all of us here, and for our pinup photographer extraordinaire, Tony Nylons. The book is divided into five distinct sections, which cover the history of our main interests: lingerie, shapewear, stockings, pinup and exotic (which is just another way of saying `fetish`!).

Each section has a written introduction and is lavishly illustrated with Tony`s fabulous photography, as well as peppered with cute artwork by Charlotte Thomson.

Long-time fans of What Katie Did will recognise some classic pinup shots from our archives, but a substantial proportion of the photography was shot especially for the book, and has never been published elsewhere.

It`s an absolute must-have for lingerie-lovers, stocking devotees and vintage aficionados alike... not to mention What Katie Did addicts! It`s a little bit informative, a little bit entertaining, and contains a a whole lot of glorious pinup eye-candy... what more do you need?
