What`s a Fräuleinwunder?

The expression "Fräuleinwunder" was created in 1952 by the American press when the official Miss Germany visited the US. Till then "fräulein"was just the old fashioned German word for a young woman who is not yet married.

Susanne Erichsen was young, she was classy and she was overwhelming beautiful. Born into an average middle-class family, she wanted to break out and reach the stars. She appeared in all fashion magazines and made more in an hour than a factory worker in a month.

She introduced a new era of selfconfident, modern and independant women, so "fräuleinwunder" became for one decade a synonyme for style, attitude and class. A promise we still want to keep.
